Summer Challenge 2025

Summer brings a welcome break from school and plenty of time to play explore and try new things. But long holidays can sometimes leave children wondering what to do next. That’s where our Summer Challenge comes in with fun creative activities to keep minds active and spirits high.

This year, we’re inviting all children currently in Year 1 to Year 5 to take part in a set of exciting activities designed to keep them curious, engaged, and learning in fun and creative ways. These aren’t typical school tasks – they’re deliberately different. The aim is to encourage children to explore, create, try something new, and reflect on their experiences.

What’s Involved

Each participating student can download a Summer Challenge Task Sheet, which lists a range of activities to choose from. The tasks are varied and enjoyable – some are outdoorsy, some are artistic, some are thoughtful, and some are just a bit silly (on purpose).

We ask children to record their progress in a scrapbook, which will act as both a journal and a showcase of their completed tasks. This scrapbook becomes a personal record of their summer journey, filled with drawings, photos, tickets, leaflets, writing, or anything else that captures the moment.

The aim is for children to take ownership of their learning and have fun doing it. That said, we do ask parents to take an active role in encouraging and supporting their children – especially when some activities may need a little guidance or collaboration.

How to Take Part

  1. Get a scrapbook – or a folder, notebook, or anything that can serve as a personal journal.
  2. Decorate the front cover – don’t forget to add your name!
  3. Stick the Task Sheet inside for easy reference.
  4. Choose a task and get going!
  5. Document the experience in your scrapbook with drawings, writing, photos, or anything creative.
  6. Tick off completed tasks as you go.

Why It Matters

This challenge isn’t about grades or right answers. It’s about curiosity, independence, and personal growth. The activities encourage children to try something new, explore the world around them, and enjoy learning without pressure. By the end of summer, they’ll have created a keepsake full of memories and accomplishments – and hopefully learned a thing or two along the way.

Recognition and Rewards

At the start of the new school year, children will be invited to bring their completed scrapbooks to school. Those who complete at least 15 tasks will receive a certificate – and those who go the extra mile and complete all the activities will earn a special prize!
