Għall-ewwel darba ser issir OPEN DAY għalikom nhar l-ERBGĦA 9 ta’ MEJJU 2012. Jistgħu jattendu biss dawk li uliedhom jattendu din l-iskola. B’hekk tkunu tistgħu taraw il-proċess li minnu tgħaddi l-iskola f’ġurnata normali. Ovvjament il-klassijiet huma żgħar, jiġifieri mhux se tkun faċli li kulħadd jidħol u joqgħod komdu. Pero’ jiena ċert li kulħadd ser japprezza din l-opportunita’ u x-xogħol li jsir.
Programm:
08:45 – 09:00: Laqgħa fis-sala. Dħul minn Triq l-Iskola (skont kif ikun indikat).
11.30 – 12:00: Mass Movement (Zumba) għal kulħadd.
Għalhekk intom imħeġġa tiġu liebsa sportiv. Tkaken mhux permessi minħabba l-grawnd. Ilbsu u libbsu lil uliedkom il-brieret. Fl-aħħar tistgħu tieħdu lil uliedkom magħkom. Grazzi. Narawkom nhar l-Erbgħa fid-08:45.
We are pleased to announce that the Sunflowers, Year 1 class have been awarded the Quality Label for their very first eTwinning project called Spoony goes around the world. You must be asking – What’s eTwinning?
eTwinning is a framework for schools to collaborate on the Internet with partner schools in other European countries. The project aims to encourage European schools to collaborate using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).
At the click of a mouse, pupils and teachers can work with their counterparts in other countries and learn about any subject or topic with and from each other.
The main aim behind these kind of projects is to create very rich and authentic learning situations for the children. They contribute in an increase to the students’ motivation, improves their communication and team-work skills and help them to develop cultural awareness and tolerance. We believe that there are more opportunities for the children to learn than just within the classroom.
It all started when Ms Chircop applied and was chosen to attend a seminar in Brussels called – eTwinning Multilateral Contact Seminar. It was organised for teachers who were new to eTwinning and wished to start off new collaborative projects with partners from around Europe.
Ms Chircop’s class together with four other partners from Estonia, Slovakia, Belgium and Austria afterwards got involved in a project called Spoony goes around the world to get to know other European children by making a creative wooden spoon: dressing it up, creating it’s face etc. The spoons are now travelling both virtually on the Twin Space and by mail to learn more about the children’s countries and cultures.

The digital postcard below was created by the children themselves for their eTwinning partners. We wanted to create a unique explanation or a report of the Belgian Spoony Wooden Spoon Puppet’s visit in Malta, so our Sunflowers created a ‘blabber’ using the online tool ‘Blabberize’. They uploaded a photo of the puppet, traced it’s mouth and added their own recordings to finally make the puppet speak or become alive. The last video shows the Belgian wooden spoon puppet talking about his experience at Siggiewi Primary school with the children.
