Dear Parents

We would like to remind you that, Parents’ Day will be held on Wednesday 22nd November. Since this will be a full day instead of just an afternoon, there will be no school for students on this day.

We would also like to remind you that all educators will be attending professional training on Wednesday 8th November (12:00pm – 02:30pm) and on Friday 17th November (08:30am – 02:30pm). Students will finish school at 12:00pm on the 8th November and there will be no school for students on the 17th November.

Scool2Walk – A Parent’s Experience

Bringing kids to school is a hassle in the morning, whether we have young kids or older ones. Getting them ready and arriving at school on time has not always been easy for me.

Scool2walk has been launched this year, but how does it work? People may be wondering.

I can recommend that this initiative gives flexible options to many parents to make morning routine much easier. As a parent, since I joined the walk, I can manage my time better with children than before and less stressful.

There are Meeting points, which are also the Drop-off points, where parents can drop off their kids with the walking buddy and other children if they need to keep going off to work.

The walking buddy registers the arrival of the child through the app, so, for example, when Nanna brings the child at the meeting point, the parents on the way to work get instant notification through e-mail on arrival at the meeting point, and also when they arrive at school.

All the communication can be sent via Whattapp for the group circle, so in case the child is late or cannot show up for the walk because of sickness etc, they know straight away and keep moving without waiting.

Kids simply enjoy walking together. Parents, Grandmas and Grandpas can walk together if they find time or can go on with their morning routines. It is not a daily commitment, as you register only on the days the kids choose to walk with their peers.

When we all walk together as group, we are more visible to the traffic and it gives us more safety on the road as we are also the vehicle as a ‘walking bus’.

The community police officer is often there guiding us, so we feel much safer and relaxed.

If you drive your children in the morning, driving kids up until the meeting point saves time from the traffic jam around school and looking for parking, which can be very stressful.

From my perspective as a parent of two, Scool2walk uses an easy to use modern app that gives extra peace of mind that gives an easier solution for many busy parents in the mornings.
