Visit to Għar Lapsi

Recently, our class, Year 1.3, visited Għar Lapsi. This visit was part of the Siġġiewi Heritage Trail created by the school’s ECO Skola committee. It was also linked to a class project about our hometown Siġġiewi. This project emerged from the interest of the pupils. They did not only learn a great deal about their hometown, their immediate environment, but also about places around Siġġiewi including Għar Lapsi. They also had the opportunity to learn about fishing from an experienced fisherman from Siġġiewi, Nicholas Schembri who dedicated more than an hour of his time explaining to the children about Għar Lapsi, specific fishing techniques, tools of the trade and weather conditions.

Ekoskola Parliament Session

On April 19th we were invited for a parliamentary session. This parliamentary session was for EkoSkola students only and we were lucky enough to be chosen. It was a very nice experience because we got to learn how things work during a parliament session and we also met many different students from many different schools. During the session we learned many different things about EkoSkola that take place in other schools. Some students proposed some ideas to help the environment. A girl also gave the members of parliament a motion which is something she wants them to act on. We were hoping to sit next to the parliamentary members but we sat in the strangers gallery with our parents. We are still very honoured that we were chosen for this session as it only takes place once a year.
