Nitgħallmu fuq is-sengħa tal-Ganutell

Nhar l-Erbgħa 1 ta’ Novembru, Ms Maria Kerr, esperta fuq il-ganutell, ġiet l-iskola tagħna sabiex tkellem lit-tfal tar-raba’ sena dwar x’jinvolvi l-ganutell. Hi minnufih laqgħet l-istedina wara li l-għalliema wrew ix-xewqa li t-tfal ikunu esposti għal din is-sengħa peress li jifforma parti mis-sillabu l-ġdid tal-Istudji Soċjali. F’dan it-topik, it-tfal huma mħeġġa jesploraw u jitgħallmu dwar xi snajja’ li għadhom jeżistu, oħrajn li m’għadhomx u oħrajn li għadhom isiru biss bħala passatemp bħall-bizzilla u l-ganutell.
It-tfal kienu entużjasti ħafna, tgħallmu ħafna dwar il-ganutell kif ukoll kellhom ix-xorti li jaraw u jmissu xi materjal u għodda. Għalihom din żgur ser tkun esperjenza tassew memorabbli.

Quality Label for eTwinning projects of Scholastic Year 2014/15

We are pleased to announce that the Year 3 children of Ms Melanie’s and Ms Catherine’s classes, as well as the Year 4 children of Ms Claudine’s class have been awarded the Quality Label for their eTwinning project of scholastic year 2014-15. eTwinning Quality Labels are granted to teachers with excellent eTwinning projects. They indicate that the project has reached a certain national and European standard.

You must be asking – What’s eTwinning?

eTwinning is a framework for schools to collaborate on the Internet with partner schools in other European countries. The projects aim to encourage European schools to collaborate using Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

At the click of a mouse, pupils and teachers can work with their counterparts in other countries and learn about any subject or topic with and from each other.

The main aim behind these kind of projects is to create very rich and authentic learning situations for the children. They contribute in an increase to the students’ motivation, improves their communication and team-work skills and help them to develop cultural awareness and tolerance. We believe that there are more opportunities for the children to learn than just within the classroom.

Animal Awareness Day

Last Monday, 5th October, we celebrated Animal Awareness Day.  All the children at our school were excited as we could bring our pet with us to school.  Fr. Joseph Borg came to visit us during the morning assembly to bless our loving pets.  It was a perfect day to announce that this year, the EkoSkola committee will be working on the topic “Taking care of Animals”.  This was the second most voted topic when we did a survey at the beginning of last scholastic year.
