The Rainbow : Year 1.2

The students in year 1.2 explored the theme of the rainbow through two stories, “The Rainbow Fish” and “Leo the Lion and his Friends”. They also created stamps of the story characters in their art lessons.

In a video lesson titled “Rainbow Facts”, the children learned about the formation of rainbows, the colours that make it up, and the fact that not everyone sees the same rainbow. They also used kite paper to experiment with colour combinations.

During their Maltese language lesson, they coloured in a rainbow according to its colours and matched each colour to an object while writing down the corresponding colour.

The children did a big rainbow using kite paper and made colourful rainbow masks. They also had a fun activity where they made Rainbow Spaghetti, and they recorded the steps taken to complete the process while sorting the materials used. Well done !!!

Learning through Cooking in the Kindergarten

We are currently exploring the topic of Dinosaurs and one of the activities the children were involved in was baking dinosaur vanilla biscuits. Our students were engaged through their senses, and this was a great time to introduce them to new smells, textures and tastes. From measuring to mixing to kneading, there are many actions in baking that allow our children to practice and enhance their motor skills. They all helped with the mixing, pouring and flipping. Cooking helps them learn about how different foods look and how they are made. Children are more likely to try new food if they’ve helped to prepare it.
