Family Fanfare Concert
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra is once again hosting the now established annual Family Fanfare Concert on Saturday 23rd March at the historic Manoel Theatre in Valletta at 5pm. This year’s edition is entitled Music of Mystery & Magic.
The Family Fanfare last year won Best Production for Young People in the first edition of the Malta Arts Awards 2018 and has been nominated as one of the finalists in the same category of this year’s edition of these prestigious Awards. This year’s presentation promises to excel as well in terms of quality and standards!
Mysteries and scary stories fascinate both adults and children!! Music of Mystery & Magic is an interactive concert specifically designed for our younger audiences. The MPO will be exploring a magical musical world through great classical works and iconic soundtracks written to evoke a sense of mystery, magic and fear, such as the Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain which was made famous through Disney’s Fantasia, Saint-Saens’ Danse Macabre, Grieg’s Hall of the Mountain King and John
Williams’ magical Harry Potter theme. The performance, under the direction of Robert Hodge and animated by presenter Maxine Aquilina, will also include opportunities for audience participation.
We look forward to share with you and your family this interactive musical adventure, immersed in the word of Music & Magic. Please be informed that before the concert we will have a short music workshop at the theatre which will help you get into the mood of the performance. The workshop will start at 4:30pm and will be available for all members of the audience. We would like to ask our younger audience to bring with them masks or props (or perhaps even costumes) to engage with the theme of this concert which includes witches, wizards, gnomes, monsters, skeletons or magicians!
Tickets can be bought online through https://www.teatrumanoel.com.mt/m=shows&id=799 or from the booking office of the Manoel Theatre (tel. no. 21246389).
