K2.4 visit the Aviation Museum

The most recent topic of interest for the children of K2.4 has been airplanes – a project we called Up, Up and Away!  Visiting the Aviation Museum in Ta’ Qali on Monday 26th February really enhanced their eagerness for learning about planes.

We were welcomed and expertly shown around two hangars.  We learnt about why airplanes and helicopters used to be painted in certain colours, their specific jobs back when they were used, and why they were built in particular ways.  We also had the exciting opportunity to go up in the cockpit section of an airliner, sit in actual pilot seats and do pretend flights. Next, we took turns to play with a small wooden aeroplane on a zipline simulating a landing of an aircraft carrier.

The children were observant, enthusiastic and very much interested from start to finish.  It was a wonderful learning experience for all of us.
