Recently, our class, Year 1.3, visited Għar Lapsi. This visit was part of the Siġġiewi Heritage Trail created by the school’s ECO Skola committee. It was also linked to a class project about our hometown Siġġiewi. This project emerged from the interest of the pupils. They did not only learn a great deal about their hometown, their immediate environment, but also about places around Siġġiewi including Għar Lapsi. They also had the opportunity to learn about fishing from an experienced fisherman from Siġġiewi, Nicholas Schembri who dedicated more than an hour of his time explaining to the children about Għar Lapsi, specific fishing techniques, tools of the trade and weather conditions.
