On Friday 9th June, Her Excellency Dr Marie Louise Coleiro Preca, graced our school with her presence to collect the funds we diligently raised during Autism Awareness Day organised by the School’s Pupil Council. This charitable initiative was undertaken to support The Malta Trust Foundation, a noble cause dedicated to addressing the needs of individuals affected by autism.
The occasion was marked by a gathering of our enthusiastic primary pupils in the school hall, where they eagerly awaited the arrival of Her Excellency. To commence the event, the children from our school who are beneficiaries of communication devices extended a warm welcome to HE Dr Coleiro Preca, showcasing the profound impact such devices have had on their lives. Following this heartfelt introduction, the Year 5.4 class took centre stage, presenting an engaging and informative assembly on autism. Their remarkable efforts shed light on the diverse aspects of autism, fostering understanding and compassion among the audience. In recognition of our collective efforts, a generous sum of €500 was presented to HE Dr Coleiro Preca on behalf of The Malta Trust Foundation. This financial contribution will aid the foundation in its vital work, empowering individuals with autism and providing them with the necessary resources to lead fulfilling lives.
Today’s event stands as a testament to the power of collective action and the importance of fostering understanding and inclusivity within our school and the broader community. We are immensely proud of the dedication and compassion displayed by our students and staff, and we look forward to further initiatives that promote awareness, acceptance, and support for individuals with autism.
