L-esperjenza tal-High5
Onestament, meta qaluli li ġejt nominata għall-High5, ma kontx naf għal xiex dieħla ħlief li din l-opportunità kienet miftuħa għal studenti tal-ħames u s-sitt sena, li hemm tliet fażijiet u l-ewwel pass kellu jkun eżami. Aċċettajt għax kienet opportunità unika, kont se nirrappreżenta lill-iskola u ta’ madwari ħeġġewni biex ma nitlifhiex. Mill-eżami tal-ewwel fażi kien ċar li din l-esperjenza ma kinitx ibbażata biss fuq il-Matematika. L-aħbar li kkwalifikajt għat-tieni fażi kienet diġà ħaġa kbira għalija. It-tieni fażi kienet tikkonsisti f’ħames workshops. Nammetti li waqt is-sezzjonijiet, ġieli ħassejtni se naqta’ qalbi imma mbagħad tgħallimt li l-importanti li tibqa’ tipprova sakemm issib is-soluzzjoni u mhux kemm tasal malajr. Tgħallimt nuża modi differenti kif nasal għal risposta u tawna ħafna tagħrif war xjenza u nies magħrufa permezz tal-logħob li organizzawlna. L-eżami tat-tielet fażi kien itqal mill-ewwel wieħed u kont nervuża għalih. Ma bsartx li kont se niġi l-ewwel mill-istudenti tal-ħames sena. Din l-aħbar ħallietni bla kliem! Irrealizzajt kemm imxejt ‘il quddiem f’dan il-vjaġġ bis-sapport tal-għalliema, familja u ħbieb. Il-premju finali kien ġurnata fil-Malta National Aquarium fejn kellna logħob relatat mal-akkwarju u l-ħut differenti u kellna mawra ġol-akkwarju. Iktar minn ċertifikat akkademiku, iċ-ċertifikat se jibqa’ jfakkarni kemm m’għandi qatt naqta’ qalbi f’kull esperjenza li ngħaddi minnha u nibqa’ nfittex għas-soluzzjoni, anke jekk tidher impossibbli!

My High5 Experience
When I was told that I was nominated for the High5 experience, I honestly did not know what this involved, except that it was an opportunity for Year 5 and 6 students, that it involved three phases and that the first step was an exam. I accepted given that this was a unique opportunity, I was representing my school and several people encouraged me to participate. The first exam indicated straightaway that this experience was not going to be solely based on Mathematics. Qualifying for the second phase was a great achievement for me. This phase consisted of five workshops. I must admit that sometimes I used to feel like giving up during the sessions, but then I learned that it is very important to keep on trying until I get to a solution, no matter how much time it takes. I learned different ways how to reach a solution and got a lot of knowledge about science and famous people through the organised games. The third phase’s exam was harder than the first and I was quite nervous. I never anticipated that I will end up first from all Year 5 participants. This news left me speechless! I realised how far I’ve come along this journey, thanks to the support of teachers, family and friends. The final prize was a day at the Malta National Aquarium where we had games related to aquariums and fish, and we also had a tour in the aquarium. Rather than an academic certificate, the certificate will always remind me of how important it is not to give up in any experience and to continue searching for a solution, no matter how impossible it may seem!
