Our Project by Ms Nikita Borg:

During last scholastic year, Kinder 2.5 worked on an eTwinning project called The Power of Goodness. The project aimed to develop the concept of goodness in children between the ages of three and six. It was a collaboration between three countries; Turkey, Malta and Romania. Throughout the project, the children learned about goodness and shared it with their grandparents, health care professionals, the animals, the environment and with the other children. They had the opportunity to make cards for their grandparents, whom they were not visiting frequently due to the Covid 19 pandemic. They recorded a video to thank health care professionals during school closure when the positive cases were increasing drastically and these professionals had to endure hard work. This video was greatly appreciated from many health care professionals, who sent emails and videos of gratitude to thank the students for their message. The children showed goodness to animals by making bird feeders and hanging them in their yards, gardens and balconies, and by collecting cat food as a whole school event and donating them to the cat sanctuary at St Vincent de Paul, elderly home Luqa. The children met Jack the police dog through an online virtual meeting and learned about the police dog’s work in the police force. This project also focused on goodness to our environment and the children learned how to protect our environment through recycling. They had the opportunity to plant sunflower seeds and learn through experience how to take care of it to grow and flourish. By the end of the project, the sunflowers bloomed and the children were so fascinated about the whole process! Despite the difficulties due to restrictions and school closure, the goals of this project were achieved and the children participated with the support of their caregivers. This project enabled the children to learn more about love, respect, kindness, positivity, thankfulness and respect.
