St Ignatius Siġġiewi Primary has participated in several art exhibitions throughout the years. Through these competitions, students get feedback about their art and learn to become young artists. The students convey messages through their artworks.
The Siġġiewi Local Council organised an art competition giving students the opportunity to showcase some of their artwork in prominent places around Siġġiewi. The artworks had to be in the form of a poster to promote good care of our village. A large number of students submitted their drawings. The artworks of four students were chosen and displayed on the outside of the school building. The students are Jake Azzopardi, Zain Zammit, Sara Mifsud and Nathan Bonello. All participants were also given a certificate of participation.
Instead of having visitors in an exhibition, art is being ‘delivered’ outdoors reaching a greater audience. This way the message will be more effective. The students enjoyed participating in this initiative and are going around Siġġiewi trying to spot their and their friend’s artworks and messages. This is the way we should incorporate art in our life style connecting the young generation with the old generation.
