On Monday 1st March our school participated in the EkoSkola Green Flag Award Ceremony. We were invited because last June our school was awarded with the Green Flag for the seventh consecutive time. The Green Flag is an international standard that shows that the school has worked hard on sustainability over two scholastic years. Our committee had worked to bring about a change in Siggiewi Primary. We worked on not using plastic disposables. We hope that our actions will be continued over the years.
Our school participated online for the ceremony which was under the patronage of the President of Malta Dr. George Vella. We, Amira and Aurora, were representing the school committee. We had the chance to listen to other students share their experience of EkoSkola and see other schools receiving their respective awards too. Each school also shared a slogan indicating what the theme they were working on was. In our case the slogan was ‘Say no to plastic!’ and apart from reading out the slogan Aurora also prepared a poster. We feel very proud of our achievement!
