During last Wednesday’s special assembly we focused on the topic of peace and non-violence. As most of you may know, the 30th of January is the anniversary of Ghandi’s death. Mahatma Ghandi was a peace activist who was well known for his non-violence beliefs. Ghandi was the person who led an Indian Independence movement against the British. This was done through peace and non-violence. Ghandi led non-violent protests against the British and even when he was locked up in prison he used to pass on his message by fasting for several days.
During this assembly the children had the chance to spread a message of love and peace. It is essential to not just learn about who Ghandi was and what he did, it is important to put into practice what he used to preach:
Be the change you wish to see in the world!
Let’s start from home, in our classrooms and communities. Let’s spread the word of love and goodness.
