On 24th October, we celebrated the European day of languages. The European day of languages is an annual event celebrated every 26th September, but since we had just started the scholastic year, pupils and students celebrated it in schools on 24th October. The European day of languages is organised jointly by the Council of Europe and the European Union, and 2017 marks the day’s 16th anniversary. One of the main objectives of the European day of languages is to show people across Europe how important and fun languages are. Our school celebrated this day during the morning assembly. Children from class 6.1 started the assembly by saluting in different languages. Through a power point presentation and video, the children shared with the school the general objectives of the European day of languages and the importance of lifelong language learning. Finally, all the school children watched and listened to the very famous Disney’s soundtrack Let it Go, but sung in 25 different languages.
