Siġġiewi Primary EU Project

The second week of June 2014 is Comenius Week at Siġġiewi Primary. Thirty-five members of staff and students from five partner school coming from the UK (Manchester and Northumberland), Spain, Italy and Turkey meet at St Ignatius College Siġġiewi Primary for the second project meeting. The project entitled ‘The Changing World of Children’ compares and contrasts the various landscapes of the participating countries. This is being done through a multilanguage dictionary with terms related to nature, mascots to represent each school, postcard exchange, a Comenius project corner in each school, creative use of recycled material for crafts, nature walls, nature song book and a calendar. It also discusses ways and means how to make this world a better place through ecology education at school and types of renewable energy. The Project Ceremony took place at Ġuże’ Delia Hall at Siġġiewi Primary on Wednesday 11th June.

The ceremony included ‘Catch the Drop’ songs and videos, emphasising the need to reduce the use of water, amongst other commodities. The highlight was the participation of Kristina Casolani, courtesy of Green MT, with her song ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’, the official song chosen by the Maltese school for the project.
