Animal Awareness was the subject of a special assembly at Siġġiewi Primary on October 4th. Our students were invited to bring their pets whilst parents were invited. Year 6 classes prepared a presentation about St Francis, the Saint much associated with animals. Our students explained that more than 700 years ago, St Francis believed that everyone had a duty to protect our world, respect nature and mainly animals. After this presentation, the Archpriest blessed all the animals present. Their proud owners made it a point to show off their pet, be it a bird, snake, cat, dog, turtle, bunny…
Our special guests on the same day were AAA (Association for Abandoned Animals). A member of the Association brought two dogs with her. During her speech she emphasized the importance of neutering and the use of a micro-chip.
As in previous year, Siġġiewi Primary Eko-Skola Committee wishes to raise funds to sponsor at least one dog. Each class has a sheet wherein students colour one cell for every €0.50 collected.
